The Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras is on of the world’s truly gay traditions, that is also wholly Australian.
Mardi Gras Festival actually runs for two weeks with shows, talks and events happening every day culminating in our magnificent parade.
The parade is an opportunity to show our pride in our diversity, to celebrate all the rights that we have won, and most importantly to protest.
It is a time when we the LGBT Community comes together to remember, to love and to celebrate. I am awash with love and joy at this time and it takes me weeks to recover from such a natural high.
